The Year in Review

Some of our highlights include:

In March in response to Covid we supported the care sector with a recruitment campaign for care workers. We had our moment of fame on KMFM, which also celebrated the brilliant of social care in Kent and the campaign was shortlisted for an award. We developed a Covid support section on our DLC website to help coordinate the volume of information.

We have been very busy supporting the care sector by delivering bitesize training sessions and seen 75% of providers that have been on the Well Led programme commissioned by the DLC, now progressed onto good or outstanding CQC rating. Since September the DLC has been busy helping Kent and Medway CCG deliver a programme of Digital Care Homes which has involved iPads to homes that require the technology tools and comprehensive training programme to ensure staff are able to effectively use the tools. We have had some very positive feedback, as the DLC team have come together to deliver an ambitious programme within a very short timescale.

The Help to Care app, initially developed by Kent and Medway and CCG but implemented by the DLC was shortlisted for Health Service Journal Award for system led change to support carers, which will be decided on in March 2021. So, watch this space to see if win!

Our Interreg Empowercare project is really coming together and, in the autumn, we deliver the first digital ambassador training programme to volunteers. These volunteers will now be working in the community to help people access and use technology to reduce social isolation. This project is underpinned by the ESTHER approach as we work to understand what matters to people and communities and ensure that they help co-design the solutions. We have spoken at many events about this project and showcased how we have come together with partners to deliver a comprehensive technology offer.

We could go on about some our highlights from the year, but this is meant to be a short and engaging blog. So, on that note wishing you a very Merry Christmas and let’s hope that 2021 is a much better year. We already have a full work programme for 2021, which is exciting, and we look forward to working in collaboration to improve the lives of people living in Kent.
