Supporting Care Providers in Kent - What a year!
What has been offered?
COVID-19 has certainly helped to raise the profile of social care, highlighting all the good work that happens within our sector and how skilled our care workers are. We are committed in continuing to support the upskilling of our workers to manage even more complex care as services become more integrated with health and some people experience symptoms of long COVID-19.
The biggest change over the last 12 months for us has been a rise in the number of webinars we are now offering. There have been numerous stand-alone webinars on Infection Control, Wellbeing & Support and of course COVID-19 on various themes! We have introduced Lunchtime Bitesize 45min webinars. These are held once a month in partnership with NHS colleagues and have been a great success covering topics such as Inhaler techniques, Diabetes, Behaviours that Challenge, MCA and much more. If you have missed these, all presentations and resource sheets can be found at the bottom of the HUBs training pages. The next bitesize is 14 April on Dementia & Best Interest Principles - book here
Our twice-yearly registered manager conferences have also become virtual events and have remained popular supporting managers through COVID-19 challenges with content reflecting managers areas of concern. If you missed the last one on 10 March, you can view all the presentations here.
Growing our nursing workforce has also been a priority and we are now in our third year of signing up trainee Nursing Associates from social care services, with KCC providing Levy funding for this program for providers who are non-levy payers. If you would like to know more contact email@example.com
The HUB will continue to work with providers and partners to address development needs, recruitment issues and training to support quality of care. With this in mind, we have accessed the DoH Workforce Capacity Fund (WCF) to offer the following to our sector;
- Funded licences for one year to the Care Friends app to support recruitment. To register your interest contact: firstname.lastname@example.org
- A Care Home Assistant Practitioner (CHAPs) program for Nursing homes
- A series of Bereavement webinars supporting peoples experiences through COVID
- Webinars and a support offer for those experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Coming soon – A HUB jobs page for providers to post their vacancies
So, let’s look forward to a calmer 2021 as we continue to grow our support offer and hopefully we will see you all at the next face to face Registered Manager Conference on 22 September 2021 at the Mercure in Maidstone. Take care everyone 😊
